The Parinirvana Anniversary of Rigdzin Chenpo Longchen Rabjampa
On the 18th day of the 12th month of the Tibetan calendar is the parinirvana anniversary of the great terton vidyadhara Longchen Rabjampa. Kunkhyen Longchen Rabjampa is revered as one of the greatest Nyingma masters and the most learned scholars, highly respected by all the lineages of Vajrayana.
He was an indirect incarnation of Princess Pema Sal, the daughter of King Trisong Deutsen, who holds the mind-mandate transmission of the Khandro Nyingthik entrusted by Guru Rinpoche and was given the secret name Pema Ledreltsal. After several incarnations, she was reborn as the terton Pema Ledreltsal, and revealed the Khandro Nyingthik. Longchenpa is the immediate reincarnation of Pema Ledreltsal.
He systematized the Nyingma teachings in his ‘Seven Treasures’ (Dzod Dun མཛོད་བདུན་) and wrote extensively on Dzogchen. He composed The Inner Essence in Four Parts (Nyingthik Yabshi སྙིང་ཐིག་ཡ་བཞི)where he brought together the two primary lineages of Dzogchen practices - The Khandro Nyingthik of Guru Rinpoche and The Vima Nyingtik of Vimalamitra - into a cohesive system.
He transmitted the Longchen Nyingtik cycle of teachings and practice to Jigme Lingpa, and it has since become one of the most widely practiced traditions.
Under the instruction of Jetsun Choekyi Gonpo, Dechen Choekhor Mahavihara will be conducting a special Guru Offering Puja according to the Longchen Nyingthik Guru Sadhana* to commemorate the passing of this great master and to invoke his blessing.

THE IMMENSE BLESSING OF THE ENLIGHTENED MASTERS ON THEIR PARINIRVANA ANNIVERSARIES
Like the anniversary of Lord Buddha's Mahaparinirvana, the parinirvana anniversary of great enlightened masters is regarded as a significant and particularly blessed day for serious Vajrayana practitioners.
The physical body of the gurus may have left this world, but their blessings remain. It is said that the guru's blessings are most powerful at the moment they enter nirvana and on all their parinirvana anniversaries. Therefore, these are the best moments with the highest possibilities for meditators and practitioners to become enlightened or heighten their realization.
On this day, practicing Guru Yoga with fervent devotion, supplicating earnestly, and meditating undistractedly, is akin to merging our ordinary minds with the enlightened mind of the masters. The powers of blessing and merit accumulated are incredible.
All are welcome to participate in this auspicious and beneficial event.
