Special Qing Ming Puja:
Buddha Akshobhya Jangchok Puja
For years, many disciples have repetitively requested Jetsun Choekyi Gonpo to hold a special puja to benefit their departed relatives and friends, particularly their ancestors, during the Qing Ming Tomb-Sweeping Festival.
This year, our Guru has compassionately granted our yearning wishes. Dechen Choekhor will be holding a one-full-day Buddha Akshobhya Jangchok Puja with SUR smoke offering in the evening.
All are welcome to participate in this puja to benefit self and others, and especially one’s deceased family or friends. Please get in touch with the respective person-in-charged of your region for participation details.
Out of immense kindness, Jetsun Choekyi Gonpo has bestowed a brief explanation on Buddha Akshobhya Jangchok Puja as below:
Brief Description of Buddha Akshobhya:
Buddha Akshobhya is one of the Five Meditational Buddhas or Five Wisdom Buddhas. He is known as "Mitrugpa" in Tibetan – the one who never disturbed by anger or aggression. He is regarded as especially powerful and effective in purifying negative karma.
Buddha Akshobhya established his enlightened intention that all sentient beings could purify any degree of non-virtue, even the most extreme sinfulness of hatred, violence, and killing can be cleansed through relying upon him through earnest supplication.
The Benefits of Buddha Akshobhya Jangchok Puja:
Buddha Akshobhya is known for its incredible power in Karma purification. This is the only Buddha, who is able to cleanse the negative karma of general people. We all bear incalculable negative karma from our countless lifetimes. Thus, any practices of purification are of utmost importance.
Buddha Akshobhya Jangchok Puja is especially beneficial for:
A) The Living that suffers from:
· Karmic sickness
· Unknown sicknesses
· Cancer or other incurable diseases
Uncleansed negative karmas are the causes of our physical and mental sufferings, and the never-ending cyclic existence. All the karmic related sicknesses can only be cured by cleansing and purifying of our Karma.
Through karma purification, one will obtain great benefits in both worldly and spiritual pursues – the improvements in every aspect of one's lives, the elimination of the afflictive emotions and the pacification of obstacles, outer and inner.
B) The deceased, particularly:
· Death during the passage toward birth (miscarriage or abortion)
· Death before adulthood (untimely death)
· Violent or fearful death (accident, etc.)
· Suicide
Those that have died from any of the above situations are the indications that the deceased might be having difficulties in obtaining fortunate, spiritually well-endowed rebirth. Thus, Jangchok is particularly crucial for them.
According to the Buddha's teaching, traditionally, Jangchok must be performed on a yearly basis for the deceased. That is how we can constantly benefit the dead, even though they have passed away long ago. Every time we perform Jangchok, it will affect them positively.
For those still wandering in the Bardo, the prayer will liberate them. Through the power of Buddha Akshobhya, the person who receives the dedication will meet a rebirth that is free of intense suffering and is conducive to ultimate happiness.
May it benefit all!
